Emergency Weather Closing Procedures

Snow Days:

  • We have two “emergency closing days” built into the 2024-2025 school calendar.

  • On days when there is a forecast for extreme winter weather (blizzard, nor’easter, ice storm, power outages, etc.), an announcement will be made as early as possible to alert families that schools will be closed.

  • If we must use more than two days for school closings, additional days will be taken away from the April Break, beginning with Monday of that week.

Delayed Opening:

  • When inclement weather is forecast to happen during the night or early morning hours, we will alert families and staff the day/night before a schedule change, so everyone can be prepared with supplies and childcare.

  • If we need to monitor conditions overnight, we will call as early in the morning as possible.

Early Dismissal:

  • When inclement weather is predicted to begin during the school day, we will plan ahead for an early dismissal.

  • The schedule will be based on the forecast, and notification will go out as early as possible.

School Announcements:

  • Announcements of school closures, delays or early dismissals are made through the automated notification system.  Please be sure your contact information is up to date in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
